Bee Happy
Happy bees produce the best honey so we want to make sure that our bees are the happiest they can be. From the insulated wraps that we use during the winter season to keep the colonies warm to the organic treatments we use to manage pests, we want to give the bees every edge to thrive.
Sustainable Beekeeping
We emphasize the health and wellbeing of the bees, ensuring that they thrive and contribute to the broader environment. The core of this is our responsible harvesting of honey to ensure that our colonies remain strong through lean times.
Biodiversity
Sustainable beekeeping goes hand-in-hand with practices that encourage a rich and diverse environment. Our primary beekeepers, Sherman and Donna, are certified Master Gardeners and have cultivated a variety of plants for the bees to forage on throughout the year. Not only is the nectar and pollen produced by the plants excellent for the bees, it makes for some fantastic honey.
Responsible beekeeping is also promoting good genetics in our colonies. We cultivate colonies of calm, happy bees that have also demonstrated resistance to common diseases and pests such as varroa mites. A healthy ecosystem is a team effort and we are happy to play our part!
Inspiration
In a world of bees, it's the women who call the shots. The workers are all female and their dedication to their family is inspirational. We have named each of our hives after a woman that has inspired us to be better. To learn more about what inspires us and how we got into bees, click on the link below.
